My name is Deborah Francisco and this is my
story.
I am 47 years old and started my weight loss
surgery journey at 417 pounds. I had arthritis in my knees so badly
I could barely get up to cross the room. However, when I had to rely
on those little carts to get around in the grocery stores, Wal-Mart,
Target, etc. I knew I needed to take a drastic step.
After many, many diets, including Weight
Watchers, I knew that weight loss surgery was the last and only
resort for me. I actually lost 85 pounds on Weight Watchers, to turn
around and gain 100 back!
I had my surgery on May 1, 2002. Since then I
have lost 201 pounds and am still working on it. I have my life back
again! I actually trained for a walking marathon, but couldn’t
complete it because of hernia repair surgery. However, I have
completed quite a few 5K walks which I am very proud of.
Considering I could not walk across the room prior to my surgery, I
am ecstatic to walk 5 to 7 miles every few days and work out 3 times
a week.
My health is so much better and I can
participate in activities with my children! I have been obese all of
my adult life so this new life is extraordinary! This is the best
decision I ever made for myself and for my family! Although some
members were very wary of my decision to have this surgery, they all
are constantly telling me now what a great decision I made!
I have included before and after photos.
Remember, I’m still a work in progress!
